The 2010 Obligatory Thanksgiving Mix

Gobble, gobble, kids. The Missus is working on a pumpkin pie, and we're headed over to Chez Parentals to partake of bird and one sibling invariably making another cry. Hope yours is jolly, as well.

From all of us to all of you, stay off my fucking lawn. And Happy Thanksgiving.

The Greatest Angioplasty Mix You Ever Will Hear

You want commitment? i'll give you fucking commitment.

Who here had an angioplasty earlier today, raise your hands? Just me? Well then.

Actually not the biggest of deals, it was just a maintenance thing from my earlier cyborg implant. Without going into too much gross detail, because of the artery that needed the ballooning, they went in through the groin with the tube. i realized after the fact that the male nurse gave me a landing strip (or manding strip, if you will). Am i a nurse bitch now? Anyone? Help? Please?

The Greatest Quickly Cobbled Together Vegas Mix You Ever Will Hear

OK, kids, i'm out of town for a few, attending a wedding reception for a high school chum in Las Vegas. i grew up outside of A.C., so casinos don't do much for me, but it will be good to see the aforementioned pal o' mine. And dig this--she hit it big as a runway model and apparently has married one of China's leading movie stars (because Wiki never lies, right?). i won't say anything more about the affair or name names, because let's be honest, that would be gauche. Let's not kid ourselves, however--you so wish you were me.

Postings probably will be sporadic at best for the next few, so consider yourself forewarned. i imagine Meg will do her best to keep you entertained in my absence.

Anyway, the clock's ticking, i have work to wrap up, a new suit to pick up, things to see, people to do, etc., etc., etc., and my flight's first thing in the morning. So here's the Greatest Quickly Cobbled Together Vegas Mix You Ever Will Hear.

The Greatest Loosely Themed Quickie Africa Mixtape You Ever Will Hear

My second youngest brother has just returned from a year abroad in Africa. While i've only had sporadic email updates, sounds like it's been a miserable trip for the poor bastard. Since this Ps' are out of town, it looks like the Eldest Terrible here is going to take the sibs out for a welcome home dinner, so i clearly don't have time for anything too detailed for you lot today.

In celebration of Younger Terrible making it back alive (though a good pirate kidnapping story would have been interesting), here's the Greatest Loosely Africa Themed Quickie Mix You Ever Will Hear.

The Most Inappropriate Wedding Mix You Ever Will Hear

In a few hours (why the hell am i awake this early on a Saturday?), The Missus and i are off to partake in the nuptials of a couple of her friends whom i have not yet met. With my wonky back, i am afraid i shall not be able to pull off the appropriate breakdancing moves at the reception, but with enough free booze in one's system, who knows what's possible? If you don't hear from me by Monday afternoon, it's probably safe to assume that the six-step into a helicopter into a windmill combo i attempted to pull off did not go well.

In honor of the impending marriage, i offer up The Most Inappropriate Wedding Mix You Ever Will Hear.

The Most Sweltering Mix You Ever Will Hear

Good Lord and Butter, enough with the heat already! For those of you in the DC metro area (and along a lot of the entire East Coast), you're picking up what i'm putting down. i think it's broken 100 degrees every day this week. That's too hot to handle, you dig? When it's too sweltering to want to get laid, you know it's too damn hot. Somebody needs to do something about this. i'm not sure if we should get Tonatiuh, Ri Gong Ri Guang Pu Sa, Apollo or Helios on the phone, but somebody needs to figure it out, and fast, too. People are starting to look at me funny for continually stuffing ice cubes down my pants, and we can't have that now, can we?

The Laziest Mixtape You Ever Will Hear

You know what the biggest problem with three day-weekends is? They're not four or more days.

You noticed we didn't post yesterday. For those of our non-U.S. readers, yesterday was the tail end of one such three-day weekend. And while my nap levels seem to have been replenished, i'm not sure i feel like working towards much of anything today. So you get the laziest mixtape you ever will hear, and we're both winners.

The Greatest Mostly Jingoistic U.S. Mix You Ever Will Hear

Since i may or may not be either hosting or attending a BBQ tomorrow, i'm dropping The Greatest Mostly Jingoistic U.S. Mix You Ever Will Hear today. i'm not a huge flag waver, but i do love making mixes, so i guess Uncle Sam's semi-loyal are the winners here. Or, if you're not from here and/or harbor reasonable, less than complimentary feelings in our direction, play this at your "ironic" Americans are Wankers party. See how music can bring us all together in a non-violent, in this case condescending way like that?

FunJunkie's Summer Burn 2010, Part the Second

The Missus was more than kind enough to help me put together the covers for these mixtape masterpieces last night, so they're en route to recipients in far off lands even now. Part of the experience of FunJunkie's annual Summer Burn, you see, is the case itself.

Last year, i went shitty and just used iTunes auto-jewel-case-cover-program, which is pretty plebeian on its own. Of course, that was the year i exchanged with some graphic designer who sent me this lush, handmade piece with silk screening and the whole nine yards. So this year, i returned to my fourth grade collaging skills for the cover (pictured here) and even bought some nifty program at Best Buy that was supposed to be the shit's tits, but the paper fucked up my printer. Long story short if it's not too late already, The Missus came through like a champ, so they actually looked like they were made by more than a drunken goat herder.

If you enjoyed yesterday's foray into the mind of Uncle Terrible's summer mix mentality, here's some more of the same. Only infinitely different.

Maybe Not the Greatest You Ever Will Hear, But A Pretty Damn Good Robot Mix Nonetheless

OK, i've got a boatload of reviews and freebies i need to get to, but guess what? That ain't happening today, my friends. Work has been hectic, and equally if not more importantly, i need to get my ass to the Velvet Lounge to go catch the early show with the Elastic Waste Band headlining. Who are they? Just the remaining members of Morphine with a Delta Blues Man sitting in for Mark Sandman. Too bad the Lounge's website is sucky, and they won't answer their own phone to tell folks when the show actually starts, because the real losers here are the LET readers deprived of the daily fix of little heard gems as dictated by yours truly.

And the Flyers. They're losers, too.

Fortunately, apropos of absolutely nothing, i've been sitting on a robot mix for some time now. i'd like to say it's The Greatest Robot Mix You Ever Will Hear, but that might be pushing it this time. i'd probably need some Heartbeeps clips to reach that stratosphere, but this one is pretty damn good nonetheless.

Without further ado, it's Maybe Not the Greatest You Ever Will Hear, But A Pretty Damn Good Robot Mix Nonetheless.

And, of course, the greatest robot dance i've ever seen, which means it's probably that much greater than the greatest you thought you had seen prior to seeing this one. Or something like that.

The Greatest, Shortest Ticket Scalper Mix You Ever Will Hear

Man alive, going to see the Blackhawks play in the home opener is not looking to be an easy deal. It would be nice if Ticket Bastard and the NHL could get their shit together enough to make an official announcement about when tickets go on-sale. Or has the time already come and gone? You can't tell from either of their websites. Should i risk it and hope a scalper makes my day? i need music for these types of decisions.

As such, here's The Greatest, Shortest Ticket Scalper Mix You Ever Will Hear.

The Greatest Good News vis a vis Back Surgery Mix You Will Ever Hear

Saw my fourth back doctor today, only to hear that the previous guy was a quack (his opinion). i immediately trusted the new doc because he wasn't too pretty (previous guy was). Never trust people that are too pretty.

New back doc called the last one's suggested surgery "a bullshit tip." Instead of the multi-day, majorly invasive surgery the last one wanted to do, the new guy will be done in one afternoon. My four month recovery time has gone to "I'll put you on a six week moratorium from doing anything stupid, but I expect you back on your feet within a week." Essentially, he's going to put a tiny pin-like object in-between my vertebrate.

i was delighted to hear this, as who doesn't enjoy a little screwing now and again?

And the insurance company is paying.

Not sure if i can go six weeks without doing anything stupid, though.

i think i have a crush on my new doctor.

And you know what that means? That's right. Time for The Greatest Good News Vis-à-Vis Back Surgery Mix You Will Ever Hear.

Back to the Back: The Greatest "So You Just Learned Your Back Surgery Is Going to Cost You More than Your Last Three Cars" Mix You Will Ever Hear

Spent way longer than planned at the spine doc's earlier today and have a conference call to attend to shortly, so today's post is going to be a George Clinton-style quickie.

Long story short, i just found out that my current backologist is out of my insurance network, meaning that to get my broken parts fixed is going to cost me personally approximately $20,000.

Add in my new house and a new car for The Missus, and it has not been a good year so far for my savings account.

The Greatest 420 You Will Ever Hear Today, Part the Second

Well, if you're checking out this mix, you're either hell baked by now or on your way towards that destination. And to you, girls and boys, who have stuck with this habit, through good times and bad, through sticky buds and ditch weed duds, through dank and skank, your Uncle Terrible salutes you. For the rest of you, don't step on the grass, Sam. For the rest of us, let's go get stoned.

The Greatest 420 Mix You Will Ever Hear Today, Part the First

i heard somebody is having a big 420 party tomorrow. No, not for Hitler's birthday, you damn Nazi. April 20 is the Stoner High Holiday, every one's favorite call number for their favorite not exactly legal depending where you live plant. Or so i hear. It's not like i'm a two time attendee of the High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam (13th and 15th annual do what now?) or anything. Hugs, not drugs, kids. Unless the hugs are administered by creepy strangers and/or the drugs are really good shit. i'm not saying, i'm just saying. What was i saying again?

Oh yes, Part the First of LET's Two Part Greatest 420 Mix You Will Ever Hear Today. A few laughs and a few tracks to keep it stoney, son. You spit fiyah, and i'll slurp smoke.

The Greatest Beard-a-Thon Mix You Will Ever Hear

So i don't really go into hockey here at LET, but never let it be said i am anything less than a 100%, 3/4 American, 1/4 Canuck Puck Head of the highest degree. i started playing street hockey when i was in grade school, broke my leg playing ice about two years ago and was playing in two adult rec leagues when my artery exploded. Being a Chicago native, i'm a huge Blackhawks fan, and even went to the outdoor game at Wrigley Field a couple of years back. Having lived in DC for the past decade-plus, i've become equally passionate about the Caps. Hell, i've had some kind of season ticket package since well before the Great 8, so you can only imagine the sheer joy i'm experiencing right now, just before either team starts down the path towards glory. i have not decided if a 'Hawks/Caps series for the Cup would be the greatest or worst thing i could imagine, but i'll tell you this--if either makes it that far, i will be at at least one game for either of my teams.

For the second year in a row, i've opted to join the Beard-a-Thon, which raises money to help keep kids with razor sharp blades and deadly sticks off the street and on the ice where they belong. i don't ask anyone to donate to LET because, quite frankly, my day job treats me pretty nicely, but if you've ever thought, "Man, Terrible Chris is constantly giving and giving, what ever could lowly I ever do for lordly him?"

Throw a few ducats towards the cause, and we'll call it even. Hell, if enough of you donate a buck, maybe i'll even place in the top ten. Or better, you cheap bastards whom i love dearly.

Here's the link not-so-subtly-hidden-like-above:

Now, i had to start from scratch, and i'll be the first to admit i'm currently a light bulb in my mouth away from looking like Uncle Fester, but it's hardly a grow-a-thon if i started with my usual thickness.

To get you in the mood, here comes The Greatest Beard-a-Thon Mix You Will Ever Hear.

The Funniest Sacrilegious Easter Mix You Will Ever Hear

Yes, i'm a couple of days early for the return of Undead Jesus, but tomorrow my office decided to use its floating holiday, so i just may drag my ass out to somewhere fun that may or may not have Internet connectivity. As such, i wanted to get this post in before the holiday had passed.

That's right, children, gather round for the Funniest Sacrilegious Easter Mix You Will Ever Hear.

Side note: if you read as many music blogs as i do, you may well be familiar with Pop Tarts Suck Toasted. While a wonderful source for snagging a lot of brand new mp3s, you might have noticed a very familiar post there today. Coincidence that more than half his list of Top 10 Zombie tracks already were posted in The Greatest Zombie Mix You Will Ever Hear series and a few others were just different tracks by groups we pointed out? You make the call.
Uncle Terrible: taking ownership of the world's most spread fruit cakes and talking trash to strangers for the attention it brings.
