Mittenfields & Forevsner: A Photo Recap

A few weeks back, LET was delightfully proud to sponsor what proved to be a decidedly killer double bill of grrrrreat, loud, shoegazey, droney, dream rock bands starring Mittenfields and Forevsner.

Instead of just saying how great both these bands were (which, in fact, they without a doubt were), I'd like to share some photos with you from the show. All snaps courtesy the super rad Jill Palumbo. Enjoy, and make sure to check out both of these seriously sensational DC area bands. As a guide, Forevsner is the first band you see, and then Mittenfields.

Newsflash!: Holy Crap! Another LET-Sanctioned Show of Awesome!

Yes, friends, that's right. It's the gray season of Winter and it's cold cold cold (ok, so it's not cold today, but work with me here), and damned if that's not as good an excuse as any to listen to some damn FINE music of the local variety.

We are happy as clammy clams to be sponsoring what will, undoubtedly, be a night of insanely, wickedly, hearing-loss inducingly loud and ridiculously rad music on February 28th, starring the behemoth talents of Mittenfields and Forevsner. The night promises to be so loud, as it happens, that earplugs will be provided for one and all. We don't want anyone's eardrums popping, after all! So come hang out with us, see two killer bands, AND do good while you have a good time. How's that, you ask? Well you see, darlingest darling dears, the proceeds of the show are going to benefit We Are Family DC. So chase the Mondays away with us, down at Arlington's Galaxy Hut. We can't wait to see your pretty, pretty faces. To get you in the mood, here's a couple lo-fi, rough gems from Forevsner.

We're Throwing a Rock'n'Roll Show!

Yes indeedy, my darlings, the rumors are true! Your favorite DC/Richmond music blog is in fact throwing our first show, together with our dear friend Brett at Fifth Man Promotions. For all of you Richmonders (or surrounding area-ers), come on down to the Camel this Wednesday, February 11, for a simply delightful double bill. Our fearless duo is the Delicious (of Bloomington, IN), and Birdlips (of Charlottesville, VA).

The Delicious, stopping in Richmond whilst in the midst of a national tour, are of the jingle-jangly, pop-tinged rock genus, full of mirth and merriment (and one of my favorite characteristics, a hearty dose of cheekiness). I'm hoping "Accelerated Dickery" will be included on the setlist.

Birdlips, meanwhile, are a duo of the earthier, more pastoral variety. At times reminiscent of the Essex Green and the Rosebuds, Lindsay and Cliff make many beautiful noises together.

We're pretty convinced you'll love both of them. So come on out this Wednesday. A crisp (or somewhat wrinkled) Abe Lincoln gets you and yours in, where you can enjoy some high quality music (and make use of the Camel's bar and yummy menu).
